A Day Out at Halloween at Cammas Hall

Halloween at Cammas Hall

Cammas Hall is a local pick-your-own farm that we tend to go to every single year. We’ve done a lot of strawberry picking and have gone every year to their Halloween event, but this year it feels bigger than ever. Cammas Hall has a giant corn maze, a spooky child friendly walk, a teen-aimed spooky walk, a pumpkin volcano, massive pumpkin patch and actors around photo areas! It seems to keep growing each year, getting to be quite a big event. You will need to pre-book and pay an entrance fee to go into the spooky walk and pumpkin patch. The corn maze is a priced add on.

Cammas Hall Corn Maze

The corn maze at Cammas Hall is dinosaur themed this year – which is very different from last year. The maze, from a sky view, has a dinosaur carved into it. We bounced around the maze, looking for signs about burred dinosaur bones. There are also scare crows and spooky jokes dotted around, as well as two big points to stop and take pictures. One of them allows you to get a sky view of the maze, and another has a dinosaur up above you. There are different letters around the maze that correspond with the dinosaur bones. You can then put the letter on a little sheet, which will solve a two word phrase. At the end of the maze, you can hand this in to get a bunch of prizes. The prizes this year include a trick or treat bag, a pair of funny glasses, some candy, and a little booklet of Halloween activities. It’s a really fun prize and well worth the price of entry!

Spooky Walks

The two spooky walks inside Cammas Hall are separated in a way that you go through the kid-friendly one to get to the pumpkin patch. This spooky walk is very well designed, with a lot of animatronics with moving eyes. Many of them also talk, saying various funny things; it reminds me a lot of Lewis the jack-o-lantern which has gone viral this year. One is a skeleton worker for Cammas Hall, who tells you that he really enjoys Halloween. Another scene has a table full of skeletons eating different bits of human! It’s all in good fun. There are a lot of picture opportunities around this walk too, which is so much fun.

The other walk is recommended for 12 and above and is on the other side of the exit of the regular maze – you do not need to go through it to get to the pumpkins, though we all went in it. Robin is braver than me and she knows all of it is pretend. We walked through this walk which seemed more sectioned into different fears; there is a scary clown section including two animatronic clowns pulling apart a toddler. Another section is full of spiders that will jump out at you, another has you walking through a dark area where haunted words and banging is all around you. It’s just a bit creepy and spooky.

Cammas Hall Pumpkin Patch

The pumpkin patch itself is a field full of pumpkins, organized by color. There are a few different photo sets spread out here, including a Barbie box, which again feels very topical. These pumpkins are very reasonably priced. We got a massive pumpkin, a medium pumpkin and a small pumpkin for under £9. Walking around this area, there are also characters dressed up, that will take pictures. We saw a scare crow, wizard, princess and Barbie. They tend to be around photo areas with Barbie hanging out by her box and the others hanging out by a bubble/smoke machine and music, where some skeletons are performing in a band. A giant pile of pumpkins, called Pumpkin Volcano also is there for photos and you can walk through the middle of it this year. It’s all set up really well! There are also boxes of gourds towards the entrance to the shop, which is full of Halloween items! Another area does have a small bar, which you can order different drinks at if you want to hang around in the patch!

Cammas Hall is really building on it’s previous Halloween offerings, making more and more additions each year. I am really excited to see what they have next year and how they add onto the theme.

I don’t think we’re going to make our pumpkin patch this year. Pity too because I love to go. It’ll be the first one we’ve missed in as long as I can remember!
