It’s toy review time in the run up to Christmas, which allows us the opportunity to take a look at new and exciting toys for this year! Amelia has been really into painting her nails this year – enjoying trying out different nail polish, stickers, and more. When thinking about the best gifts for younger ones who want to try out makeup, FabLab Nail Art Deluxe kit seems like such a good fit, so when offered the chance to try it out for free, we gave it a shot.

The nail polish in this kit comes in a variety of different colours, eight in total, which can then be held in the box as it doubles as a nail polish stand. There’s even a slot for your child’s phone to fit in – although Amelia doesn’t have her own – so that they can watch tutorials or listen to music. I was actually quite impressed that they decided to make the box multipurpose like this, often we get boxes through which are instantly sent for recycling, and this has room for more than the items included in the key. Having a box that perfectly fits all of the nail polish and bits that came with it is very helpful.

The nail polish itself is actually a ‘peel away’ nail polish, which means that there is no need for harsh nail polish remover or a bunch of fuss when it needs to be removed. Peel away type nail polish just needs water, and a good handwash, in order to get the nails back to normal. The Nail Art Deluxe does have nail masks, which are a really good concept. They are silicon sleeves that go onto your fingers, around your nails, to protect them from getting nail polish on them. The smallest was quite hard for Amelia to get on her smallest finger, and she didn’t enjoy putting on the other ones, so we mainly skipped out on the masks and instead decided to just paint up her nails and clean the edges once they were done.

The FabLab Nail Art Deluxe kit also has stickers in it – unicorn themed, naturally – for the tops of your nails and sponges. Amelia had not used sponges before, but Jupiter showed her that you can paint onto the sponges to make a mixed colour or ombre effect – something new that she really enjoyed. Ombre effects always come out great with sponges and she was able to do them on her own, even decorating all of Jupiter’s fingers herself.

The quality of the kit, overall, is quite good and as it all stays in the box, it’s less likely to be lost and more likely to be used. There are good additions to it, like the phone stand, which are well thought out. Amelia said she would recommend it as a present for other kids who like painting their nails!

This is such a fun option for young ones! I am a huge fan of anything that encourages creativity and usually buy craft-related gifts for my nieces and nephews. That being said, this is perfect. I’m going to have to take a look at whether I can pick this up around here.

It looks both fun and engaging so really a perfect gift for young creatives. I particularly like the fact that it features peel-off removal.
